Hey everybody! I'm Cedar Valdez and I would love to tell you a little bit about myself! I was born on July 4, 1997 and grew up in Rogers, Arkansas. I'm a cancer, an ENFP, a 3w4 on the Enneagram, and a Hufflepuff. I love what I do and I would love to share more of that with you. Scroll down to keep reading!

My journey as a storyteller began as a child growing up in Rogers, Arkansas. As a young boy, my family was stuck listening to me sing "Tomorrow" from the musical Annie on endless repeat. Singing held a huge piece of my heart from day one. In high school, I began participating in our theatre department after seeing Newsies on Broadway while on my choir's trip to sing at Carnegie Hall in NYC. The following year I made some of my best friends at the time while playing my first ever musical role as Danny Zuko in Grease. I went on to obtain my BFA in Musical Theatre at Ouachita Baptist University studying acting, voice, and dance. Through that program I was able to discover my deeper love for theatre and grow myself as an artist and storyteller. I've always had a passion for telling stories through these art forms and even more so for sharing it with others, and I hope one day I can share this passion with you!

Other than performing, I have a heart for working with children in many different capacities including coaching and teaching classes. On top of that, I have some training and experience in directing, stage managing, and lighting design and would love to further my knowledge of them. In the farther future, I hope to attend graduate school and work toward opening my own children's theatre! On a more fun note, a few of my dream roles are Pippin from Pippin, Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid, and Mark from Rent! My favorite role I have ever played is Motel the Tailor from Fiddler on the Roof.

So far in our current season, I have played Trevor in Play That Goes Wrong and Gomez in Addam's Family. I am currently in rehearsals for JFK and Inga Binga, an original play by Julian Wiles, in which I am playing Lem Billings, AKA JFK's best friend. It has been such fun working with this company, but I am currently in search of new contracts for after May 2023, which is when my contract here ends.
Besides performing and working with kids, life is full of little joys that bring everything together. A few of these little joys for me include hiking, painting and drawing, and cuddling with the goodest of dogs. My family, friends, and teachers (who have now become friends) mean everything to me, and though I don't deserve them, I am grateful to have them by my metaphorical side every step of the way. I have them and God to thank for where I am today.
In my time at OBU, I was able to participate in several different extracurricular activities and events. In the Fall of 2017, I was a host for one of our largest school fundraisers, Tiger Tunes, and was able to develop my pop singing and more contemporary dancing. Through this same event, I was able to direct and choreograph my club's show the following year. While at OBU, I was also a member of Alpha Psi Omega and worked outside of school for Fancyful Princess Parties character performing as Spiderman and Kylo Ren. This helped me immensely in my ability to improvise and roll with the punches.
In January 2019, I traveled to NYC for an intensive through school and was able to work with and learn from professionals in the field such as Jon Cariani and Jacob Keith Watson. It was a joy to work with them and others, while exploring the city and seeing Broadway productions. Earlier on, my college choir's Italy tour in Spring 2017 was my first time leaving the country, and it couldn't have been a better experience! We got to explore the beautiful art and history of several different cities, and got the opportunity to sing in well-renowned locations like the Sistine Chapel.
I feel like this website would be incomplete without a shoutout to the wonderful people I was honored to be loved by from day one! From left to right, we have my brother Ashton, my younger sister Lily, my older sister Sage, yours truly, and my parents Darla and David (mom and dad to me)!
